Tire Replacement Service Video
Tire replacement is more than mounting new rubber. It means matching the correct load rating and speed index to your vehicle and balancing each tire so it rolls true at highway speed. This video shows how the old tire comes off the bead, how the wheel is inspected, and how the new tire is seated and balanced.
The old tire is removed by breaking the bead and sliding it off the rim. The bead seat is then cleaned, since corrosion or dried paste there often causes slow leaks later. The new tire is mounted, inflated until both beads seat, and spun on a balancer to correct any heavy spot.
Tread below 4/32 of an inch is the clearest signal, and a quarter with Washington's head down shows where you stand. Fine gravel and heat cycling on SR-17 and I-90 dry out sidewalls until surface cracks open up. If your old set wore unevenly, a wheel alignment check keeps the new tires from scrubbing out the same way.
Sidewall cracks, visible cords, bulges, or repeated slow leaks from the sidewall call for replacement rather than repair. Uneven wear across the tread usually points to alignment or worn suspension parts, not the tires themselves. Older tires can also harden and lose grip, even when some tread is left.
Affordable Automotive Services inspects the wheel, valve stem, and TPMS sensor before any new tire is mounted. A cracked stem or weak sensor battery is easier to replace while the tire is already off. Tire replacement is part of our suspension, steering, and wheel services.
We also check tie rod ends, ball joints, and shocks during the same visit, since they decide how evenly the new set wears. A new tire on a worn front end wears quickly and unevenly. Flagging those parts now saves you a second trip and protects your investment in new tires.
