AC Recharge Service Video
An automotive AC system is a sealed loop that moves refrigerant between a compressor, condenser, and evaporator to pull heat out of the cabin. Over time, that sealed loop loses a small amount of refrigerant through seals and fittings, and cooling performance drops.
This video walks through where the service ports sit under the hood and what a proper recharge actually involves. In normal operation the compressor pressurizes refrigerant into a hot gas, and the condenser sheds that heat. The expansion valve then drops the pressure so the evaporator can absorb cabin heat and send cold air through the vents.
A system low on refrigerant announces itself quietly. Vents blow lukewarm instead of cold, and the compressor clutch cycles on and off more often than it should. On hot afternoons the system can seem to give up entirely once the cabin heat-soaks.
Moses Lake summers put the AC under heavy, sustained load, so a slow refrigerant leak shows up as weak cooling faster here than in milder climates. A proper inspection measures static pressures and leak-checks the lines and fittings with dye or an electronic sniffer. It also verifies the compressor is actually engaging before any refrigerant goes in.
When the diagnosis confirms a recharge is appropriate, our cooling, AC, and heating system repair service handles the full procedure at Affordable Automotive Services.
