Radiator Service Video

The radiator is the heat exchanger that keeps your engine from cooking itself. Coolant absorbs heat from the block and flows through the radiator’s thin core tubes. From there it sheds the heat into the air passing through the fins as you drive.

This video walks through where the radiator sits behind the grille and how the thermostat opens to let hot coolant flow in. It also shows how the water pump keeps the loop moving. Hoses carry the coolant between the engine and the radiator under pressure the whole time the engine is warm.

Wear shows up in a few consistent ways. A sweet smell, pink or green staining, a rising temperature gauge, or crust around a hose clamp all point to trouble. The cooling system is losing its seal somewhere between the pump and the radiator.

An inspection pressure-tests the system, checks the cap, and looks for seepage at the tanks and tube-to-fin joints. It also verifies the thermostat is opening at the right temperature.

When testing confirms the radiator or a related part is the source, our radiator repair service handles the full job.

Few climates test a radiator the way Moses Lake, WA does. Summer heat on long stretches of I-90 pushes coolant temperatures high and hardens the plastic end tanks until they crack at the crimp seam.

If your temperature gauge is climbing or you spot coolant under the car, call (509) 764-0000 or visit Affordable Automotive Services in Moses Lake  to book an inspection.
