Radiator Hose Service Video
A radiator hose is a reinforced rubber line that carries hot coolant between the engine and the radiator. The upper hose feeds hot coolant out of the engine, and the lower hose returns cooled fluid back in.
This video walks through where each hose sits under the hood. It also shows what a tired one looks like once the rubber starts to break down. During normal operation the hoses stay pressurized and flexible, expanding slightly as the system heats up and holding their shape as coolant cycles through.
Failing hoses usually give warning signs before they let go. A hose that feels spongy, swollen at the clamp, or shows fine cracks when squeezed is on the way out. A sweet smell or a green, orange, or pink drip under the car points to a seep that will not improve on its own.
A proper inspection checks each hose for softness, bulging, and collapsed sections, then pressure-tests the cooling system to confirm where the leak originates. When a hose needs to be replaced as part of a larger cooling job, our cooling, AC, and heating system repair service covers the full repair at Affordable Automotive Services.
Long highway runs between Moses Lake and Ephrata keep coolant temperatures high for extended stretches. That sustained heat hardens the rubber until the hose can no longer flex with pressure changes.
If you spot coolant under the car or notice a soft, spongy hose, call us at (509) 764-0000. You can also visit the best auto repair in Moses Lake to schedule an inspection.
